Charities, NGOs and Fraud

This Freakonomics post suggested that the non-profit world is teeming with fraud. The numbers sounded a bit dodgy, so I wasn’t so convinced. Then this Grant Montgomery post made me think twice (thrice?) about measuring the impact of our efforts. Coming from a Church background I know it’s true that a lot of the outcomes of our church programs aren’t really economically measurable. Not that this excuses fraud, of course, but it does provide an interesting angle to evaluate some NGOs from.
