US Iran Sanctions Stop World Bank Projects

Following the US upping the economic sanctions on Iran, the World Bank has had to halt payments to some of their projects in the country. Projects involving earthquake relief, water and sanitation, environment management and urban housing. Sanctions are an interesting tool of international conflict resolution, but need to be very well targeted to be effective. Otherwise their impact can be almost as devastating as a military invasion (well maybe not quite that devastating but people do die if they can’t access food or medicine).
