Scroogled – When Google goes bad

I just read this fantastic short story from Cory Doctorow about what happens when Google and government team up and erode our rights. Google is increasingly knowing more and more about us all, the possibilities are quite scary if they ever decided to not “Do No Evil” and join the “war on abstract nouns” (brilliant quote from the story). One of the scariest points? And once they start Googling you, they always find something. All your data is fed into a big hopper that checks for ’suspicious patterns,’ using deviation from statistical norms to nail you. – one day we will all be criminals.
